We experienced a period of degraded performance caused by an unexpected restart of an AWS database instance.

During this window:
• Management requests failed with connection-related errors.
• Customers may have experienced issues placing orders or loading parts of the platform.
• Impact was intermittent and did not affect all requests.

The underlying cause was a database engine fault which triggered an automatic restart within AWS infrastructure. The restart process was initiated at approximately 18:12 UTC (19:12 BST) and completed by 18:28 UTC (19:28 BST).

We continue to work with AWS to reduce the likelihood and impact of similar events in future.
